ここでの答えは、Johnの.bash_profileの$ PATHにエラーがあるということでした。何らかの理由で、.bash_profileのpython3.5 / 3.6に関するすべてのビットを削除したにもかかわらず、export pathコマンドはそれらを元に戻していました。これは、すべてのパスを明示的に参照し、現在格納されている$ PATHに追加しないことによって解決されました。インストールは現在正しいPythonバージョンを使用しています。
