/etc/update-motd.dディレクトリはスクリプトへのリンクをもはや持つことができないようです。（これは、Cronjobディレクトリで何度もリリースされたものであり、私が推測するセキュリティ関連の一部です）。

表示されるテキスト（Message of the Day、MOTD）は、スクリプトを数値順に実行し/etc/update-motd.d、出力を結合することにより作成されます。サーバーとデスクトップのバージョンの違いがどのパッケージに含まれているのかはわかりませんが、これらのスクリプトを編集したり、新しいスクリプトを追加して必要なメッセージを作成したりすることができます。

物事を手動で出力できます

sudo run-parts /etc/update-motd.d/

通常、ファイルを更新する唯一の方法は、pam_motdをトリガーすることです。「標準」のubuntuシステムでは、「login」サービスと「sshd」サービスがそれを実行します。

ログインを高速化するために、libpam-motdからupdate-motdに切り替えることができます。Update-motdは、ログイン時に更新をトリガーする代わりにcronjobを使用します。sudo apt-get remove libpam-motd; sudo apt-get install update-motd
