ありがたいことに、解決策は非常に簡単です。

sudo gem uninstall mysql
sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient-dev -y
sudo gem install mysql 

注： mysqlをアンインストールしようとするとエラーメッセージが表示されますが、それが最初にインストールされていないため、問題ありません。mysql gemのインストール中に、エラーのように見えるメッセージが表示されましたNo definition for next_resultが、それらはエラーではありません。これは、ドキュメントをインストールするときに発生します。これらは、特定の機能について利用できるドキュメントがないというメッセージにすぎません。

RubyでMySQLを使用するためにそのgemは実際には必要ありません。Debian / Ubuntuには、すでに同じコードがコンパイルおよび準備されているパッケージがあります。入力するだけですsudo apt-get install libmysql-ruby。
